Ford recalls more than 60,000 cars over software glitch
What's the story
Ford has announced a new set of recalls impacting more than 60,000 vehicles over unresolved software issues.
The affected cars include the 2020-2023 Ford Explorer, the 2020-2023 Lincoln Aviator, and the 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair.
The company hopes to fix a potential problem with these cars' camera systems that show a blue or blank image while reversing or using the 360-degree camera feature.
Additional recalls
Bronco Sport and Maverick also affected
Ford's latest recall also covers the 2021-2024 Bronco Sport and the 2022-2023 Maverick.
These models did not receive a software update required for recalibrating modules that detect sudden battery degradation.
This glitch could prevent these cars from restarting after auto stop/start is engaged or cause them to stall during low-speed stops.
Others
Minor recalls also issued
Apart from the major recalls, Ford has also issued three minor ones.
One of them involves nine Super Duty pickups with front windows that could potentially pinch fingers.
The second recall affects 2,290 units of the 2021-2022 Ford Edge crossover for a previously mishandled problem, where the backup camera showed a black, white or discolored image when reversing.
Statistics
Ford's recall history in 2025
So far this year, Ford has issued a total of 24 recalls in the first 12 weeks.
Notably, this isn't the first time cars have been recalled multiple times for the same issue.
Last month, Ford had to re-recall the Mustang due to an improper software update meant to fix the problem of random steering wheel oscillation while turning.
Issue
Recall for trucks and SUVs
In late February, Ford recalled 10,627 trucks and SUVs including the F-150, Expedition, Maverick as well as the Lincoln Navigator.
The company mishandled a recall aimed at fixing an issue with the trailer brake controller.
It said these vehicles might not apply brakes properly while towing a trailer with electric or electric-over-hydraulic brake systems.
