Ford unveils F-150 Raptor performance truck; sale starts this summer
American automaker Ford has unveiled the F-150 Raptor performance truck. As for the highlights, it has an aggressive look and offers a feature-loaded spacious cabin. It draws power from a twin-turbocharged V6 engine with a power output of at least 450hp. A more powerful version of the F-150, named Raptor R, will debut next year with a V8 engine. 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor: At a glance
The Ford F-150 Raptor has an eye-catching look, featuring a wide blacked-out grille bearing the company's logo, vertically-placed headlights, a muscular bonnet, a wide air dam, and a silvered skid plate. The truck is flanked by blacked-out B-pillars, ORVMs, and alloy wheels wrapped in 37-inch all-terrain tires. It has a payload and conventional tow capacity of 635kg and 3,719kg, respectively.
A peek inside the cabin
Ford F-150 Raptor has a spacious cabin featuring Recaro front bucket seats, an 18-speaker B&O sound system, and a 3-spoke multifunctional power steering wheel. It houses a 12.0-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.0-inch touchscreen Sync 4 infotainment system with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Passengers' safety is ensured by features like multiple airbags, forward-collision warning, and automated emergency braking.
Power and performance
The Ford F-150 Raptor draws power from a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine linked to a paddle-shifted 10-speed automatic gearbox and an all-wheel drive. It should have a power output of more than 450hp/691.4Nm. Meanwhile, the Raptor R will be powered by a Mustang Shelby GT500-sourced supercharged 5.2-liter V8 mill that generates 760hp of power and 847.3Nm of torque.
What about the pricing?
Ford is yet to announce the pricing details of the 2021 F-150 Raptor performance truck. However, in the US, it is likely to carry a starting price-tag of around $59,000 (approximately Rs. 43 lakh) and will go on sale this summer.
