Ford Equator SUV, with bold color and fancy interiors, revealed
US automaker Ford has revealed its three-row Equator SUV for the Chinese market. It will go on sale from March 28. As for the highlights, the vehicle has a bold-looking purple paintwork and an upmarket cabin with a host of features. It draws power from a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine linked to a 6-speed DCT gearbox. Here are more details.
The car sports a large chrome-accented grille
Ford Equator features a large gloss black grille with chrome accents, a wide air dam, a silvered skid plate, and sleek headlights. It is flanked by roof rails, blacked-out B-pillars, indicator-mounted ORVMs, and 5-spoke wheels. A large wrap-around taillight, a window wiper, and dual exhaust tips are available on the rear. Dimensions-wise, the car has a wheelbase of 2,865mm and a length of 4,905mm.
It runs on a 221hp, 2.0-liter engine
The Ford Equator SUV is powered by a 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbo-petrol engine linked to a 6-speed DCT gearbox and an optional all-wheel-drive system. The mill generates 221hp of maximum power and 360Nm of peak torque.
The vehicle has a tech-loaded 6-seater cabin
Ford Equator has a spacious, dual-tone 6-seater cabin with a three-row layout, a dual-pane sunroof, individual armrests for middle-row seats, a 'floating' front center console, and a 3-spoke multifunctional steering wheel. It houses a Mercedes-like dual-screen setup for the digital instrument cluster and the touchscreen infotainment console, each measuring at 12.3-inch. For passengers' safety, multiple airbags, rear-view camera, and ABS with EBD are available.
Ford Equator: Pricing and availability
Ford Equator will be up for grabs in China from March 28. Its pricing details have not been revealed as of now but it should cost more than the Everest (known as Endeavour in India) which starts at CNY 270,000 (approximately Rs. 30 lakh).
