Force Gurkha makes comeback in two body styles: Check features
Force Motors has reintroduced the Gurkha SUV in India after a year-long hiatus, featuring significant enhancements and design alterations. The updated model now comes in two body styles: 3-door and 5-door. The design has been refreshed, new features have been added, and most notably, it is equipped with a more powerful engine that meets emission standards. The temporary discontinuation of the Gurkha was primarily due to its previous 2.6-liter diesel engine's failure to comply with stringent BS6 norms.
The revamped Gurkha is powered by a 140hp engine
The revamped Gurkha is now powered by a robust 140hp/320Nm engine that includes an auto start-stop function. The Mercedes-sourced engine, previously unable to meet the BS6 2.0 norms, now complies with these emission standards due to the integration of AdBlue. This four-cylinder diesel engine has seen a substantial power surge, delivering an impressive 49hp more than its predecessor. Unlike its competitor, the Mahindra Thar, which offers an automatic gearbox option, the Gurkha's engine remains paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The Gurkha gets a new touchscreen and digital instrument-cluster
The distinctive boxy design language of the Gurkha remains consistent in both models, featuring circular LED headlamps and DRLs along with a two-slat grille upfront bearing the Gurkha nameplate. Both models now sport new 18-inch wheels, a larger 9.0-inch touchscreen, and a digital instrument cluster. The touchscreen infotainment is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other new additions include a digital instrument cluster, powered ORVMs, tilt and telescopic steering adjust, and a rear camera for enhanced convenience and safety.
Force Gurkha offers dual front airbags
The Gurkha now comes with a tire pressure monitoring system that also displays the pressure of the spare tire mounted on the tailgate. It is equipped with traction control and hill-hold assist for improved driving stability. For passenger safety, dual front airbags and three-point seat belts are provided for all occupants. Force Motors offers a comprehensive 3-year/150,000km warranty with the Gurkha, which includes four free services and 1-year free roadside assistance.
