Gadkari urges auto sector to prioritize customer service
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has emphasized the need for the Indian automobile industry to prioritize customer service and quality assurance. In a video message delivered at the Auto Retail Conclave, organized by Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), he acknowledged that auto dealers play a crucial role in realizing the Centre's mission of a self-reliant India.
Auto sector's role in 'Make in India' initiative
Gadkari highlighted the significant role of automobile distributors in the government's 'Make in India' initiative. He stated, "As a distributor of automobiles, you play a pivotal role in the government mission of 'make in India' and contribute significantly to realizing our vision of self-reliant India." The minister also assured FADA and its members of the government's unwavering support to the auto retail sector.
Auto retail sector's economic impact
Gadkari described the auto retail sector as a significant pillar of India's economy, contributing around ₹40,000 crore annually to India's GDP. He further noted that this sector contributes around ₹95,000 crore in various taxes and levies, to both central and state governments. The minister assured FADA of the government's support to the auto retail segment in every possible way.
Government's vision for future of mobility
Gadkari outlined the government's vision for the future of mobility as one focused on sustainability, innovations, and safety. He said, "We are working toward making India a global leader in green mobility solutions." The minister also praised FADA's commitment to environmentally friendly dealership practices and its alignment with the scrappage policy.
