Everything we know about five-door Force Gurkha SUV in India
Homegrown automaker Force Motors has officially teased its five-door Gurkha, offering a glimpse into the much-awaited off-road SUV. The three-door model is also set to return to our shores after a one-year break, with both versions expected to launch here in the coming weeks. The discontinuation of the three-door variant was due to the implementation of BS6 Phase II norms.
Extended wheelbase and optional add-ons
The five-door Gurkha model will boast a wheelbase, that will be 425mm longer in comparison to its three-door counterpart, thanks to two additional rear doors. This extended wheelbase will promise a more spacious interior. Force Motors will also introduce several optional add-ons for the vehicle, including a roof rack and rear ladder.
Design elements retained and introduced in 5-door Gurkha
The exterior design of the five-door Gurkha will retain certain features from its predecessor, including circular LED headlamps, contrary to earlier speculations about a boxy headlamp cluster. The twin grille slate will also remain identical, but bumper styling will vary. Additionally, the five-door Gurkha will ride on newly designed 16-inch alloy wheels.
Luxurious interior and seating options
The five-door Gurkha will offer versatile seating arrangements with options for five, six, and seven-seater configurations, unlike the three-door variant which will only be available as a four-seater. New features such as a touchscreen infotainment panel, circular HVAC vents, a three-spoke steering wheel, an analog cluster, and leatherette upholstery will be added to enhance its luxury appeal. A shift-on-fly all-wheel-drive knob will be exclusive to the five-door version.
Robust performance expected
Both the three-door and five-door Gurkha models, are expected to deliver robust performance with a proven 2.6-liter, four-cylinder, diesel engine sourced from Mercedes-Benz. This engine is projected to generate a maximum power of 90hp and 250Nm of peak torque. The mill will be mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, delivering power to all four rims as standard.
