Final 991-gen Porsche 911 to be auctioned for Coronavirus relief
The final Porsche 911 of the last generation (991) will be sold through an online auction with RM Sotheby's on April 15, the German automaker has announced. This Speedster model is one of 1,948 examples that Porsche made to honor the company's 70th anniversary. Notably, all proceeds from the sale will go to the United Way Worldwide fund for coronavirus pandemic relief. Here's more.
About this special Porsche 911 Speedster
This special Porsche 911 was the last Speedster to be finished in GT Silver Metallic and features the Heritage Design package. It was assembled in December last year and is the last 991-gen 911 to roll-off the company's assembly line. The two-seater sports car comes with a removable fabric roof and a minimalistic cabin with dual-tone black and cognac leather upholstery.
Under the hood
The 911 Speedster is powered by a naturally-aspirated 4.0-liter engine that generates a maximum power of 502hp and comes mated to 6-speed manual transmission. With this power, the Speedster can sprint from 0-100km/h in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 309km/h.
Porsche is also offering a unique timepiece with the car
The winning bid will also receive a bespoke 911 Speedster Heritage Design Chronograph wristwatch made by Switzerland-based Porsche Design. It incorporates some design elements of the iconic Speedster, including a strap made from the same cognac leather found throughout the car's interior. The rear side of the timepiece will also bear the chassis number of this final 991-generation Porsche 911 Speedster.
