Ferrari unveils 12Cilindri, its most powerful pure-combustion car yet
Ferrari has introduced its latest GT flagship, the 12Cilindri, marking a new milestone as the most powerful pure-combustion vehicle ever produced by the brand. The grand unveiling occurred on the sidelines of the Miami Grand Prix to commemorate Ferrari's 70th anniversary in America. Enrico Galliera, Ferrari's chief marketing and commercial officer, stated that the 12Cilindri "opens a new chapter in Ferrari history."
12Cilindri: A successor to the 812 Superfast
The 12Cilindri succeeds the 812 Superfast, offering increased power, a fresh design language, and an array of innovative technologies. It notably retains Ferrari's 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine, thanks to substantial investment by the Maranello firm. This ensures that its largest engine complies with new emissions regulations. The 'F140HD' V12 engine delivers an impressive output of 819hp/678Nm. The car can do 0-100km/h in just 2.9 seconds and hit a top speed of over 339km/h.
12Cilindri is offered in top-top and open-roof variants
In a unique move, Ferrari revealed both the hard-top coupé and open-roof Spider variants of the 12Cilindri at the same time. The starting prices for these models in Italy are €395,000 and €435,000 respectively. The luxurious cabin is similar to the Purosangue SUV, with the driver and passenger each having their own separate digital display. Unlike the Purosangue, though, the 12Cilindri features a central infotainment touchscreen, which measures 10.25-inch in diameter.
12Cilindri: A significant shift in Ferrari's design language
Flavio Manzoni, Ferrari's chief design officer, described the 12Cilindri as a significant departure from previous models. The goal was to "create a cohesive whole, integrating all technical devices and aerodynamic needs into a clear vision." The car's design pays tribute to past models while also marking a clear departure from the line of previous generations." Notably, rear flaps are integrated into the bodywork, enhancing downforce at speed and maximizing boot space while offering a sleek appearance at rest.
