2022 Kia Seltos spied testing: What all is changing?
South Korean automaker Kia Motors is gearing up to launch the 2022 iteration of its Seltos SUV. In the latest development, the four-wheeler has been spotted testing once again. The newly surfaced images showcase the car's redesigned taillights. Previously, pictures of international test mules of the new Seltos have revealed the car will have a refreshed front fascia, updated alloy wheels, and sensor-based ADAS.
Why does this story matter?
With the competition in the compact-SUV segment tightening, Kia has decided to bring back a new version of the Seltos. The four-wheeler has been a huge hit in India since its launch. However, its newer rivals like SKODA KUSHAQ, Volkswagen Taigun, and MG Astor have made a dent in the sales. The company hopes the facelifted iteration will take it back to the top.
The SUV will have refreshed L-shaped taillamps
The 2022 Kia Seltos is likely to be based on the brand's latest "Opposites United" design language and will feature a blacked-out grille, a refreshed headlamp cluster with new LED DRLs, and updated fog lamps. It will be flanked by blacked-out B-pillars, indicator-mounted dual-tone ORVMs, and new designer alloy wheels. Revised L-shaped LED taillights will grace a more sharper rear end.
Multiple engine options could be offered
The facelifted Kia Seltos is expected to get the same powertrain options as the current model. In India, it may come with a 1.5-liter diesel engine (113.4hp/250Nm), a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated petrol motor (113.4hp/144Nm), and a 1.4-liter turbo-petrol mill (138hp/242Nm).
The car will have a panoramic sunroof
The 2022 Kia Seltos may get mild interior updates with new upholstery, colors, and a panoramic sunroof being some of the expected features. It will have a spacious cabin with automatic climate control and a multifunctional steering wheel. It will pack a digital instrument cluster and a touchscreen infotainment panel with smartphone connectivity. For safety, multiple airbags, a 360-degree-view camera, and ADAS are expected.
2022 Kia Seltos: Pricing and availability
Kia will disclose the official pricing and availability details of the new Seltos at the time of its launch sometime later this year. However, it will likely carry a premium over the outgoing model, which starts at Rs. 9.69 lakh (ex-showroom).
