    What's the story

Indian Motorcycle has unveiled its eFTR Hooligan 1.2 bicycle in the US. It is built in collaboration with Super 73 and will not be introduced on our shores.

As for the highlights, the vehicle has a sporty design and offers many features, including a flyscreen.

It draws power from an electric powertrain and promises a pedal-assisted range of around 120km on a single charge.

    Context

    Why does this story matter?

Indian Motorcycle is the latest entrant in the electric bicycle segment, which includes models from brands such as Harley-Davidson, Ducati, and Yamaha.

The eFTR Hooligan 1.2 should attract a lot of buyers in the US. However, its Indian debut seems unlikely as there is no demand for such a product here. Also, it is too costly for the market.

    Design

The cycle has an extended bench seat and gold-colored chain

The eFTR Hooligan 1.2 has mid-height handlebars, an FTR-inspired flyscreen, a circular headlight, a mid-mounted battery pack, and an extended bench seat.

The bike packs an all-LED setup for lighting, an LCD instrument cluster, a gold-colored chain, deleted fenders, and rides on spoked wheels shod in thick semi-knobby tires.

It tips the scales at 33.1kg and has a length of 1,735mm.

    Information

It attains a top speed of 45km/h

The eFTR Hooligan 1.2 packs an electric motor linked to a removable 960Wh battery. The setup generates a maximum power of 2.68hp and allows the vehicle to hit a top speed of 45km/h (pedal-assisted). It also gets five riding modes.

    Safety

    It gets inverted front forks

To ensure the safety of the rider, the Indian eFTR Hooligan 1.2 is equipped with Tektro Hydraulic disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels.

On the other hand, the suspension duties on the electric cycle are taken care of by inverted forks on the front end. There is no mention of a shock absorber on the rear end.

    Information

    How much does it cost?

In the US, the Indian eFTR Hooligan 1.2 sports a price figure of $4,000 (around Rs. 3.08 lakh). However, no details related to the electric bicycle's availability or pricing in India are available.
