Ducati introduces a more affordable variant of Scrambler Icon
Ducati has showcased a new color variant of its retro-styled motorcycle, the Scrambler Icon, at Ducati World Premiere in Italy. Titled as Scrambler Icon Dark, the new variant gets minor design tweaks and a matte black color scheme, however, mechanically, it remains the same as the standard model. Notably, the motorcycle is positioned below the already available yellow and orange variants in international markets.
Ducati Scrambler Icon Dark: At a glance
The new model sits on same tubular steel trellis frame and features a naked street design with single type seat and blacked-out engine as well as alloy wheels. However, to keep costs in check, it houses conventional rearview mirrors and halogen turn indicators as against angular mirrors and LED indicators. The motorcycle also gets a fully-digital instrument cluster and a silver-finished exhaust unit.
What about power and performance?
The Scrambler Icon Dark packs the same 803cc air-cooled, L-Twin engine, which is capable of producing 73.41PS of power at 8,250rpm and 67Nm of peak torque at 5,750rpm. The transmission duties on the motorcycle are handled by a 6-speed manual gearbox along with slipper clutch.
Ducati Scrambler Icon Dark: On the road
In the safety department, the Ducati Scrambler Icon Dark comes equipped with 330mm disc brake on the front, 245mm disc brake on the rear, and dual-channel ABS to avoid skidding while braking. The motorcycle houses conventional telescopic forks on the front and a monoshock unit on the rear to handle the suspension duties.
Will it come to India?
As of now, there is no word on the availability of the Ducati Scrambler Icon Dark in India. However, considering that the company sells its Scrambler range in the country, we expect the new motorcycle to hit Indian roads sometime in early 2020.
