What's the story

Italian automaker Ducati has launched a limited edition Hypermotard 950 RVE model in the US. The company will sell just 100 units of the two-wheeler and it will be up for grabs only via pre-booking. It comes with a unique paint scheme inspired by street art. In terms of performance, the bike draws power from the same 937cc, twin-cylinder engine as the standard model.

Context

Why does this story matter?

The Ducati Hypermotard 950 RVE's design is inspired by the award-winning original 950 concept that was unveiled at the Concorso d'Elegenza Villa d'Este. The company decided to make only limited units of the bike because of the painstaking process involved in creating its unique livery. The motorcycle's hefty price tag is legitimized by its good looks, great performance, and features on offer.

Design

The motorcycle has under-seat dual exhausts, USB power socket

The Ducati Hypermotard 950 RVE sits on a tubular steel trellis frame and has a street-art inspired "Graffiti" livery, a sloping fuel tank with extensions, a stepped-up seat, a pillion grab rail, twin under-seat exhausts, and knuckle guard-integrated LED blinkers. It houses a TFT instrument console, an all-LED lighting setup, a USB power socket, and rides on 17-inch wheels.

Information

A 937cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine fuels the two-wheeler

The Ducati Hypermotard 950 RVE is powered by a 937cc, Testastretta, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled, engine mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The mill generates a maximum power of 114hp and a peak torque of 96Nm.

Safety

The bike has wheelie control and inverted front forks

For the safety of the rider, the Ducati Hypermotard 950 RVE is equipped with disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels, along with cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, and riding modes. Suspension duties on the motorcycle are handled by fully-adjustable Marzocchi inverted forks on the front side and a Sachs mono-shock unit on the rear end.
