2019 Ducati Diavel 1260 superbike to be launched in August
Italian superbike maker Ducati is working to launch the second-generation Ducati Diavel 1260 in India sometime around August 2019. The new model has received a host of mechanical and cosmetic upgrades in the form of a bigger engine and improved electronics. To recall, the motorcycle was first unveiled at the 2018 EICMA show in Milano, Italy. Here's our roundup.
Let's take a look at the bike
The 2019 Ducati Diavel 1260 sports a cruiser design featuring a bulky fuel tank, narrow seats, dual exhausts, and black alloy wheels. Talking about electronic features, the motorcycle gets a 3.5-inch digital instrument panel, automatic indicators, keyless ignition, and an all-LED setup for lighting. Moreover, it has a kerb weight of 244kg and a wheelbase of 1,600mm.
Power and performance
The second-generation Ducati Diavel 1260 is powered by a bigger 1,262cc liquid-cooled Ducati Testastreta DVT engine which is capable of producing 159PS of power at 9,250rpm and 129Nm of peak torque at 7,500rpm. Moreover, the motorcycle is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and promises a top speed of 272kmph.
Ducati Diavel 1260: On the road
The bike comes equipped with Brembo-sourced disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels along with cornering ABS and traction control for better road handling. To handle suspension duties, the motorcycle houses 50mm upside-down forks on the front and a mono-shock suspension on the rear. Moreover, it offers three riding modes: Sport, Touring and Urban.
Ducati will also launch a top-spec Ducati Diavel 1260S
Alongside the Ducati Diavel 1260, the company will also launch the top-spec Ducati Diavel 1260S in India. This model retains the design and specifications of standard Diavel 1260. However, it gets a bunch of premium features including Ohlins suspension package and a Ducati quick shifter.
And, what about pricing?
As for the pocket pinch, the standard 2019 Ducati Diavel is expected to arrive at a price of around Rs. 16 lakh (ex-showroom) in India, which is Rs. 1 lakh costlier than its existing model. On the other hand, the top-end Ducati Diavel 1260S is likely to cost around Rs. 19 lakh (ex-showroom).
