Ducati DesertX Discovery tourer debuts in India at ₹22L
What's the story
Ducati has launched the DesertX Discovery, a touring-ready version of the highly-praised DesertX bike in India.
The motorcycle carries a price tag of ₹21.78 lakh (ex-showroom) and is loaded with a host of features for long-distance travel.
These include heated grips, a touring windscreen for added comfort on long rides, and a center stand that makes parking on uneven surfaces easier.
Design
A blend of style and durability
The DesertX Discovery distinguishes itself from its siblings with a distinctive color scheme that blends Ducati Red and Thrilling Black shades, highlighted with white accents.
The motorcycle also comes with aluminum panniers for extra storage on long rides.
To make sure the bike lasts long, it is equipped with a bull bar, radiator guard, and a wide engine bash plate to protect vital parts.

A look at the engine and performance
The DesertX Discovery is fueled by a 937cc, L-twin engine that delivers 108hp of power at 9,250rpm and 92Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox.
It gets electronic rider aids such as ride modes, power modes, engine brake control, wheelie control, a bi-directional quickshifter, and cruise control among others.
The instrument console on this variant supports turn-by-turn navigation but it is subscription based.

The motorcycle features 46mm fully-adjustable USD front forks and a KYB fully adjustable mono-shock at the rear.
The braking system comprises of dual 320mm front and a single 265mm rear disk.
The bike has six riding modes: Touring, Sport, Wet, Urban, Enduro, and Rally.
Each mode can be customized for engine maps, throttle response as well as ABS and traction control intervention levels.

Availability and market competition
The Ducati DesertX Discovery is now available for purchase at all dealerships and will be delivered soon. It is priced ₹3.45 lakh higher than the base variant.
In the Indian market, this new entrant will take on the likes of Triumph Tiger 1200, the BMW R 1300 GS, and Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250.
