Citroen C3 spied prior to launch in India: Details here
French automaker Citroen is likely to launch its C3 hatchback in India in the second quarter of this year. In the latest development, a test mule of the compact four-wheeler has been spotted on a test, highlighting important design details. The pictures indicate that it will sport dual-tone paintwork, flared wheel arches, and USB charging sockets, among other highlights.
Why does this story matter?
The C3 will be Citroen's second model in India and will boast extensive manufacturing localization (more than 90%) in a bid to bring down costs. The vehicle will be priced competitively and shall be India's first car to offer flex-fuel compatibility. It will take on rivals such as Tata Altroz, Renault Kiger, Hyundai GRAND i10 NIOS, and the Nissan Magnite.
The car will sport roof rails and a chromed grille
The Citroen C3 will have a muscular hood, a chromed grille, split-style headlights, a wide air vent, wrap-around taillamps, and a dual-tone paint job. On the sides, it will be flanked by roof rails, blacked-out B-pillars, body-colored ORVMs, flared wheel arches, and designer alloy wheels. The car will have a ground clearance of 180mm and a boot space of 315 liters.
It will run on a 100hp, 1.2-liter engine
The Citroen C3 will be fueled by a 1.2-liter petrol engine that will make 81hp of power without a turbocharger and 100hp using one. Transmission duties on the car will be taken care of by a 5-speed manual or an automatic gearbox.
The hatchback will get dual front airbags
The Citroen C3 will have a spacious cabin, featuring auto climate control, a 1.0-liter glove box, USB charging sockets, and a multifunctional steering wheel with mounted controls. It will house a 10.0-inch touchscreen infotainment panel with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The safety of the passengers will be ensured by dual front airbags, ABS, rear parking sensors, and EBD.

Citroen will reveal the pricing and availability details of the C3 hatchback at the time of its arrival in India. Nonetheless, the vehicle is likely to bear a starting price figure of around Rs. 5 lakh (ex-showroom).
