    What's the story

Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Ltd (CATL), a leading Chinese firm, has introduced an electric vehicle (EV) battery with an unprecedented service life.

The Tianxing B-series battery is specifically designed for the electric bus industry, and boasts a lifespan of 15 years or up to 1.5 million kilometers.

This innovative energy storage solution is the latest product from CATL's commercial vehicle battery brand, Tianxing.

    Battery features

Tianxing B-series battery: A robust solution for electric buses

The Tianxing B-series battery is not only long-lasting but also highly resilient.

It holds an IP69 rating, indicating its ability to withstand water immersion for up to 72 hours.

This robustness makes it an ideal fit for the demanding conditions of the electric bus industry.

The company has already partnered with 13 vehicle companies, signaling that mass production of this innovative battery could commence soon.

    Market dominance

CATL's significant market share and expansion into commercial vehicles

CATL, recognized as the world's largest battery manufacturer for EVs, held a significant 37.6% global share in the industry between January and July.

In July, the company launched its commercial vehicle battery brand Tianxing, along with two L-series commercial vehicle batteries for logistics and distribution sectors.

These moves mark CATL's strategic expansion from dominating passenger car battery market into commercial vehicle battery sector.

    Technological innovation

Tianxing B-series battery sets new energy density benchmark

The Tianxing B-series battery is expected to set a new standard in the electric bus industry with an energy density of 175Wh/kg.

This achievement is due to Tectrans incorporating CTP (Cell to Pack) 3.0 technology and an optimized topological structure into its design, significantly improving grouping efficiency.

The battery also features dual-layer large-surface liquid cooling for efficient thermal management, enhancing range performance while reducing battery weight.

    Company vision

CATL's commitment to advanced technologies and user experience

CATL is committed to promoting four advanced technologies in the new energy commercial vehicle industry: super safety, super-fast charging, super-long service life, and super-long range.

"As commercial vehicle industry ushers in a golden period of development, CATL TIANXING will be committed to maximizing the value of the commercial vehicle industry through technological innovation," said Wu Kai, chief scientist of CATL.
