Chinese automaker BYD has further strengthened its foothold in India with the launch of its fourth and most luxurious electric SUV, the Sealion 7.
The new model comes in two trims—Premium and Performance—priced at ₹48.9 lakh and ₹54.9 lakh, respectively.
The exterior design sports LED headlights, connected LED taillights, flush-type door handles, and alloy wheels measuring up to 20-inch.

The interior of the Sealion 7 is a mix of luxury and technology, with a black-themed cabin and leatherette seat upholstery.
The dashboard features a gloss black panel and a four-spoke steering wheel.
The vehicle also offers a rotating infotainment touchscreen (15.6-inch), digital driver's display (10.25-inch), ventilated front seats, multi-color ambient lighting, and more.
Safety features
Sealion 7 prioritizes passenger safety
The Sealion 7 packs a range of safety features such as 11 airbags, a 360-degree camera, and level-2 ADAS.
It also comes with a driver monitoring system that employs an infrared camera to monitor eye movement and facial expressions to identify signs of drowsiness or distraction.
If the system detects the driver losing focus, it sends an alert to ensure a safe drive.
Powertrain details
Sealion 7 offers impressive electric powertrain options
The Sealion 7 is powered by an 82.5kWh battery pack, which promises a range of up to 567km.
It comes in rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations.
The Premium variant offers a power output of 313hp and torque of 380Nm, while the Performance trim offers an impressive power output of 530hp and torque of up to 690Nm.
Market competition
Sealion 7 to compete with established electric SUVs
The BYD Sealion 7 will take on the likes of established electric SUVs in the Indian market including the Hyundai IONIQ 5, Kia EV6, and BMW iX1 LWB.
Other potential competitors include the Mercedes-Benz EQB and Volvo EX40 Recharge.
