TVS launches its first BS6-compliant scooter in India
After introducing the updated BS6 Apache motorcycles, TVS Motor Company has launched its first BS6-compliant scooter, the Jupiter Classic ET-Fi, in India at Rs. 67,911. The home-grown automaker has developed two versions of BS6 Fi platforms: ET-Fi (Ecothrust Fuel Injection) and RT-Fi (Race-Tuned Fuel Injection). The Classic range comes with ET-Fi technology and is claimed to be 15% more fuel-efficient. Here's more.
TVS Jupiter Classic: At a glance
TVS Jupiter Classic offers a sporty design featuring a two-tone beige and brown colored-seat, cushioning on the grab rail, and blacked-out alloy wheels. The scooter also gets a wide windshield, along with chrome-finished rounded mirrors, and chrome garnishing on the exhaust. Besides that, it offers support for the USB charging and has a front storage space as well.
Power and performance
The TVS Jupiter Classic is now powered by a BS6-compliant 109.7cc air-cooled engine. The company has not revealed the power figures of the updated engine yet. However, it is likely to produce marginally lesser power than its predecessor, which churns out 7.99PS and 8.4Nm.
TVS Jupiter Classic: On the road
In the safety department, the TVS Jupiter Classic comes equipped with disc brake on the front and drum brake on the rear wheels, along with mandatory combined braking system as standard. The scooter also houses telescopic forks up front and a three-step adjustable gas-charged monoshock unit on the rear to handle suspension duties.
And, what about pricing?
As for the pocket pinch, the Jupiter Classic is now priced at Rs. 67,911 in India, which is approximately Rs. 8,000 costlier than the outgoing model. At this price point, the scooter goes up against rivals like Honda Activa 125 and Hero Maestro Edge 125.
