Maruti Suzuki launches BS6-compliant CNG version of Eeco MPV
Maruti Suzuki has updated the CNG version of the Eeco multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) to comply with the upcoming stricter emission norms that will be mandatory from April 1. The updated car is available for both private as well as commercial buyers and comes at a starting price of Rs. 4.64 lakh. Notably, the MPV retains the design and features of its BS4 sibling.
A look at the Maruti Suzuki Eeco
The Maruti Suzuki Eeco borrows the styling cues from its BS4 counterpart. It comes with a boxy stance featuring a small front hood, square-shaped windows, and blacked-out finish on the front bumper, grille slats, as well as rear-view mirrors. Apart from that, the car runs on 13-inch wheels and has a wheelbase of 2,350mm.
Inside the cabin
Inside, the BS6 Eeco offers a spacious five-seater cabin (can also be configured as cargo van) with fabric upholstery and a power-steering wheel. The car also houses a 2-DIN audio system with support for Bluetooth connectivity. As part of the safety kit, the MPV gets ABS with EBD, driver airbag, front seatbelts with pre-tensioners, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and rear parking sensors among others.
Power and performance
The Maruti Suzuki Eeco CNG is powered by a BS6-compliant 1.2-liter petrol engine that comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The updated unit is capable of producing 73bhp of maximum power at 6,000rpm and 101Nm of peak torque at 3,000rpm.
Finally, what about pricing and availability?
As far as its pricing is concerned, BS6-ready Maruti Suzuki Eeco costs Rs. 4.64 lakh for the standard Cargo model and goes up to Rs. 5.06 lakh for the Cargo AC model. Furthermore, the commercial buyers can get the regular version of the car at Rs. 4.94 lakh, while the private users will have to shell out Rs. 4.95 lakh.
