BS6-ready Mahindra XUV500 officially listed, key features revealed

In an unexpected move, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd. has listed the BS6-ready version of its full-sized SUV, the XUV500, on its official website.
The new car retains the design and interiors of the BS4 model while packing an updated engine but missing out on the AWD (all-wheel drive) powertrain.
The company is yet to announce the prices of the updated model.

A look at the BS6 Mahindra XUV500
The new XUV500 retains the design of its BS4 sibling. The car comes with a bulky stance featuring a chrome-finished grille, angular air intakes, and projector headlamps with DRLs.
The SUV runs on 18-inch alloy wheels and gets blacked-out wheel arches as well as B-pillars.
It also gets an attractive rear profile with dual exhausts and chrome garnishing on the tailgate.

Inside the cabin
Inside, the updated XUV500 sports a luxurious and spacious cabin that can accommodate seven people. It features leather upholstery, a sunroof, automatic climate control, and a multifunctional steering wheel.
The car sports a touchscreen infotainment panel with Android Auto and Apple Carplay connectivity features. It also supports Blue Sense app that lets you control infotainment and climate control systems using your smartphone.

Power and performance
The new Mahindra XUV500 draws power from a BS6-compliant 2.2-liter diesel engine (mHawk155) that is capable of producing 153bhp of power and 360Nm of peak torque. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed manual and an automatic gearbox that sends power to the front wheels.

And, how much will it cost?
Mahindra will reveal the pricing and availability details of the BS6-compliant XUV500 at a later stage. However, looking at the updates, the new model will carry a slight premium over the BS4 variant, that falls under Rs. 12.46-18.78 lakh price bracket.
Once launched, it will go up against the likes of Hyundai Tucson, Tata Harrier, and MG Hector.
