Here's what the BS6-compliant Mahindra Scorpio will offer
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. is expected to launch the BS6-compliant Scorpio in India over the coming months. In the latest update, the key details of the SUV, including its design, features, and mechanical specifications, have been revealed online. However, the pricing and availability details of the car are not known at the moment. Here's our roundup.
BS6 Mahindra Scorpio: At a glance
The BS6-ready Mahindra Scorpio retains the styling cues of the BS4 counterpart. The car comes with a boxy stance, featuring a vertical-slat grille, faux skid plates, and sporty-looking alloy wheels. The SUV also gets roof rails, indicator-mounted ORVMs, and an impressive rear profile with a redesigned tailgate and a rear window wiper with defogger.
Inside the cabin
Inside, the new Mahindra Scorpio sports a spacious seven-seater cabin with leather upholstery, automatic climate control, and a three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel with cruise control. The car houses a Bluetooth-enabled 7-inch touchscreen infotainment panel but misses out on smartphone connectivity features such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. For safety, it gets dual-front airbags, ABS, engine immobilizer, and reverse parking sensors.
Power and performance
Under the hood, the updated Mahindra Scorpio draws power from a BS6-compliant 2.2-liter diesel engine that comes mated to either a 5-speed or a 6-speed manual gearbox. The motor is available in two states of tune and is capable of producing 120hp of power with 280Nm of torque or 140hp of power with 320Nm of maximum torque.
And, what will be the pocket-pinch?
Mahindra will reveal the official pricing and availability details of the BS6 Scorpio once the COVID-19 situation comes under control. Meanwhile, going by the reports, the car is likely to come at a slight premium over the BS4 model, that starts at Rs. 10 lakh.
