Hyundai Motor India is expected to launch the BS6-ready diesel version of the GRAND i10 NIOS in the country, once the COVID-19 pandemic situation comes under control. The company has revealed the mechanical specifications of the updated model, confirming that it will be powered by the same 1.2-liter engine as its outgoing BS4 counterpart and provide the same output. A look at the Hyundai GRAND i10 NIOS
The Hyundai GRAND i10 NIOS comes with a compact yet stylish look featuring a cascading hexagonal grille, trapezoidal air dams, and a muscular bonnet with sculpted lines. The car gets a sporty side profile with blacked-out B-pillars, diamond-cut alloy wheels, and indicator-mounted ORVMs. Moreover, it has a wheelbase of 2,450mm and a boot space of 260 liters.
Inside the cabin
Inside, the GRAND i10 NIOS sports a five-seater cabin with height-adjustable driver seat, fabric upholstery, and a three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel. The car houses a centrally-mounted touchscreen infotainment unit with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In terms of safety, the hatchback gets standard safety elements like ABS with EBD, dual-front airbags, speed alert system, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
Power and performance
The new diesel version of the Hyundai GRAND i10 NIOS is fueled by a BS6-compliant 1.2-liter engine that comes mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or an AMT system. This motor is capable of producing 74bhp of maximum power and 190Nm of peak torque.
And, what about pricing?
Hyundai has not revealed the pricing and availability details of the GRAND i10 NIOS as of now. However, it will carry a slight premium over the BS4 diesel variant, that starts at Rs. 6.70 lakh in the country. Once launched, the hatchback will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Tata Tiago, and Toyota Glanza.
