BS6-compliant Hyundai Grand i10 launched at Rs. 5.87 lakh
To meet the upcoming emission norms, South Korean automaker Hyundai has launched the BS6-compliant version of its family car, the Grand i10, in India. The hatchback comes at a starting price of Rs. 5.87 lakh and is offered in two variants: Magna and Sportz. However, with the BS6 upgrade, the company has discontinued the CNG versions of the car. A look at the BS6 Hyundai Grand i10
The BS6-compliant Grand i10 retains the styling cues of its BS4 counterpart. It comes with a compact yet sporty look featuring a neat front fascia, a blacked-out grille, projector headlamps, and wide air inlets. The car also houses roof rails and gets an impressive side profile with sporty-looking 14-inch alloy wheels and indicator-mounted ORVMs.
Inside the cabin
Inside, the BS6 Grand i10 comes with a five-seater cabin with rounded AC vents, fabric upholstery, power windows, and a three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel. The car also features a centrally-mounted touchscreen infotainment panel with support for connectivity features. In the safety department, it gets all the standard fitments such as dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, speed alert system, and an engine immobilizer.
Power and performance
The updated Hyundai Grand I10 is powered by a BS6-compliant 1.2-liter Kappa petrol engine that comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. It is capable of producing 83PS of maximum power and 113Nm of peak torque- similar to the BS4 model.
Finally, what about pricing?
With the BS6 upgrade, the Magna variant of the Grand i10 has received a price hike of up to Rs. 8,000, while the Sportz model has become cheaper by up to Rs. 17,000. The former is available starting Rs. 5.87 lakh, while the latter starts at Rs. 5.97 lakh. Lastly, it competes against Maruti Suzuki Swift, Renault Triber, and Tata Tiago.
