Hyundai launches BS6-compliant Elite i20 at Rs. 6.5 lakh
South Korean automaker Hyundai has launched the BS6-compliant version of its Elite i20 hatchback in India. The new car comes at a starting price of Rs. 6.5 lakh and is offered in three variants: Magna+, Sportz+ and Asta (O). The hatchback arrives as a petrol-only model and is available with a manual gearbox. Here's everything you need to know.
A look at the new Hyundai Elite i20
The updated Elite i20 retains the design of its BS4 counterpart. It comes with a compact yet stylish look featuring a neat front fascia with a blacked-out hexagonal grille and projector headlights with cornering lamps. The hatchback houses indicator-mounted ORVMs, blacked-out side claddings, and angular-looking alloy wheels. Apart from that, it is dimensionally similar to the outgoing model.
Inside the cabin
Quite like the outgoing model, the updated Hyundai Elite i20 sports a five-seater cabin with height-adjustable driver seat, fabric upholstery, and a three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel. The car houses a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment panel with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Moreover, it retains the standard safety elements of the outgoing model.
Power and performance
The new Hyundai Elite i20 draws power from a BS6-compliant 1.2-liter petrol engine that comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The motor is capable of producing 82bhp of maximum power at 6,000rpm and 114Nm of peak torque at 4,000rpm.

As for the pocket-pinch, the new Hyundai Elite i20 starts at Rs. 6.5 lakh for the Magna+ model and goes up to Rs. 8.31 lakh for the top-tier Asta (O) variant. At this price point, the hatchback takes on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Tata Altroz, and Volkswagen Polo.
