Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has revealed the prices of the BS6-compliant version of its full-sized SUV, the Fortuner. The updated model comes at a starting price of Rs. 28.18 lakh, which is surprisingly the same as its BS4 counterpart. Meanwhile, apart from the engine upgrade, the new model retains the design and features of the outgoing model. Here are more details.
A look at the new Toyota Fortuner
The updated Toyota Fortuner gets an appealing look featuring an aggressive front fascia with a muscular-looking front bonnet, a chrome-finished grille, and wide air inlets. The car comes with roof rails, blacked-out square-ish wheel arches, and angular-looking alloy wheels. Moreover, the SUV houses projector LED headlamps with mounted DRLs, fog lamps, indicator-mounted ORVMs, and LED taillights.
Inside the cabin
Inside, the Toyota Fortuner offers a spacious and luxurious cabin that can accommodate seven people. The car houses power-adjustable seats, leather upholstery, automatic climate control, and a three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel with cruise control. It sports a centrally-mounted touchscreen infotainment panel with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. However, it retains the safety features of the BS4 model.
Power and performance
The new Toyota Fortuner is available with BS6-compliant 2.8-liter diesel and 2.7-liter petrol engine options. The former is capable of producing 177PS of maximum and 450Nm of peak torque (420Nm when mated to manual gearbox), while the latter churns out 165PS and 245Nm. As for the pocket-pinch, the BS6-compliant Toyota Fortuner starts at Rs. 28.18 lakh for the manual petrol-powered variant with rear-wheel-drive system, and goes up to Rs. 33.95 lakh for the automatic diesel-based model with all-wheel-drive system. Lastly, the car takes on the likes of Ford Endeavour, Skoda Kodiaq, and Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace.
