Honda launches BS6-compliant Shine at Rs. 68,000
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has launched the BS6-compliant version of its popular commuter motorcycle, the Shine, in India. The new model, which is offered in two variants: front drum brake and front disc brake, comes at a starting price of Rs. 67,857. Notably, the BS6-compliant version of the motorcycle is claimed to be 14% more fuel-efficient than the outgoing model. Here's more.
A look at the BS6 Honda Shine
The BS6-compliant Honda Shine borrows its styling cues from the outgoing model. It sits on the same diamond chassis and features a semi-faired design with redesigned graphics, a flat-type seat, grab rail, and blacked-out engine as well as alloy wheels. Apart from that, the motorcycle gets a halogen headlamp, a two-way engine start-stop switch, and a restyled digital-analog instrument cluster.
Power and performance
The new Honda Shine is more powerful and 14% more fuel-efficient than the outgoing variant. The motorcycle draws power from a new BS6-compliant 125cc fuel-injected engine which comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The unit is capable of producing 10.72bhp of maximum power at 7,500rpm and 10.9Nm of peak torque at 6,000rpm.
What about safety and suspension setup?
In the safety department, the new Honda Shine comes equipped with disc/drum brake on the front wheel, drum brake on the rear wheel, along with combined braking system (CBS) for improved braking efficiency. The suspension duties on the motorcycle are taken care of by telescopic forks up front and dual shock absorbers on the rear.
And, what is the pricing?
As for the pocket pinch, the BS6-compliant Honda Shine carries a premium of Rs. 7,867 over the BS4 model, and starts at Rs. 67,857. At this price point, it goes up against Bajaj Discover 125 and Hero Super Splendor.
