Hero announces BS6-compliant Xtreme 200S sports bike, launch soon
Hero MotoCorp has revealed the BS6-compliant version of its fully-faired motorcycle, the Xtreme 200S, through its official website. The company is likely to launch the sports tourer once the COVID-19 pandemic situation eases in the country. Talking of the new model, the motorcycle retains the design and underpinnings of its BS4 counterpart while offering a BS6-ready engine. Here are more details.
A look at the BS6 Hero Xtreme 200S
The BS6 Xtreme 200S sits on the same diamond-type frame as the outgoing model and comes with an eye-catching fully-faired look. The motorcycle gets a dual-tone paint scheme featuring a muscular fuel tank, stepped-up seat, and blacked-out alloy wheels with body-colored accents. It also houses a fully-digital instrument console and gets all-LED fitments for lighting.
Power and performance
The new Hero Xtreme 200S is powered by the same 199.6cc single-cylinder engine as the outgoing model, albeit with BS6 compliance. The mechanical specifications of this motor are yet to be revealed. However, the same unit is also used in Hero XPulse 200, where it churns out 17.8bhp of maximum power and 16.4Nm of peak torque.
Hero Xtreme 200S: On the road
In the safety department, the BS6 Hero Xtreme 200S comes equipped with disc brakes on both the front and rear ends, along with single-channel ABS as standard to avoid skidding while braking. The suspension duties on the motorcycle are taken care of by telescopic forks up front and a 7-step rider-adjustable mono-shock unit on the rear.
And, how much will it cost?
Hero MotoCorp will reveal the pricing and availability details of the Xtreme 200S sometime soon. However, considering the updates, it will carry a significant premium over the BS4 model that starts at Rs. 1 lakh.
