BS6-compliant Bajaj Dominar 400 launched at Rs. 1.91 lakh
Bajaj Auto has launched the BS6 version of its flagship motorcycle, the Dominar 400, in India. It has become costlier by just Rs. 1,750 and now retails at Rs. 1.91 lakh. The updated sports tourer retains the design and mechanical specifications of the outgoing variant while packing an updated engine that complies with the mandatory BS6 emission norms. A look at the Bajaj Dominar 400
The new Bajaj Dominar 400 retains the styling elements of its BS4 counterpart. It sits on the same perimeter frame but is 3kg heavier, with the total curb weight tipping the scales at 187kg. The motorcycle comes with a sporty design featuring a muscular fuel tank, dual-exhausts, and blacked-out alloy wheels. Further, it houses a fully-digital instrument console and all-LED fitments for lighting.
Power and performance
The new Bajaj Dominar 400 is powered by a 373.3cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, that comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox with a slipper clutch. This motor is capable of producing 40PS of maximum power and 35Nm of peak torque.
Bajaj Dominar 400: On the road
In the safety department, the Bajaj Dominar 400 comes equipped with disc brakes on both the front and rear ends, along with dual-channel ABS to avoid skidding while braking. The suspension duties on the motorcycle are taken care of by inverted telescopic forks on the front and a multi-step adjustable mono-shock unit on the rear.
Finally, what about pricing?
As far as pricing is concerned, the BS6-compliant Bajaj Dominar 400 carries a slight premium of Rs. 1,749 over its BS4 counterpart and is priced at Rs. 1,91,751 (ex-showroom). At this price point, it competes against KTM 250 Duke and Royal Enfield Himalayan.
