Benelli to launch BS6-compliant Imperiale 400 in April: Report
Taking on JAWA and Royal Enfield Classic 350, Benelli is working to launch the BS6-ready version of the Imperiale 400 in India next month, according to BikeDekho. The cruiser, which made its debut in India last year, will be the first Benelli motorcycle to comply with the mandatory emission norms. Here are more details.
The motorcycle will retain the design of its BS4 counterpart
The BS6 Imperiale 400 will look similar to the BS4 model. It will feature a naked street design with several retro-styled elements including a bulbous headlamp, rounded chrome-finished mirrors, and spoked wheels. It will also get brand decals on the fuel tank, split-type seat, blacked-out engine, and a digital-analog instrument console. Moreover, the bike is expected to come in three color options.
Power and performance
The updated Benelli Imperiale 400 will be powered by a BS6-compliant 374cc fuel-injected engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. In its BS4 guise, this motor is capable of producing 21PS of maximum power at 5,500rpm and 29Nm of peak torque at 4,500rpm.
Benelli Imperiale 400: On the road
The BS6 Benelli Imperiale 400 will retain the braking elements of its BS4 sibling. It will come equipped with disc brakes on both the ends, along with dual-channel ABS for better grip on the road. To manage suspension duties, the motorcycle will house 41mm inverted telescopic forks on the front and twin-shock unit on the rear.
And, how much will it cost?
There is no official word on the pricing of the BS6-compliant Imperiale 400 in India as of now. But, going by the reports, it is likely to carry a significant premium over the outgoing model that is priced at Rs. 1.79 lakh.
