    What's the story

In order to meet the upcoming emission norms, TVS Motor Company has launched the BS6-compliant versions of its popular sports bikes, the RTR 160 4V and RTR 200 4V.

The new motorcycles now come with a fuel-injected engine and an all-LED headlamp. However, with the engine update, the RTR 160 has seen a marginal drop in the power figures.

    Here's our roundup.

    Design

A look at both the bikes

Both Apache RTR 160 and RTR 200 motorcycles sit on a double-cradle frame and feature a semi-faired design with angular-looking LED headlights and fuel tank extensions, dual-tone color scheme, and a blacked-out treatment on the engine, alloy wheels, and exhausts.

Besides that, the RTR 200 4V model gets a more sportier appeal, thanks to the muscular-looking fuel tank, split seats, and golden-colored front forks.

    Internals

    Power and performance

The Apache RTR 160 4V and 200 4V are powered by BS6-compliant 159.7cc and 197.75cc fuel-injected engines, respectively. The former is capable of producing 16.02PS of power and 14.12Nm of peak torque, while the latter churns out 20.5PS and 16.8Nm.

The transmission duties on both the motorcycles are handled by a 5-speed manual gearbox.

    Safety

What about safety and suspension setup?

The Apache RTR 160 comes equipped with disc brake on the front wheel, drum brake on the rear wheel, and single-channel ABS as standard. The RTR 200, however, offers disc brakes on both wheels along with dual-channel ABS and Rear-wheel Lift-off Protection (RLP) control.

To handle suspension duties, both motorcycles house telescopic forks up front and a mono-shock suspension on the rear.

    How much?

    And, what is the pricing?

The RTR 160 4V carries a premium of upto Rs. 7,644 over the outgoing model and now costs Rs. 99,950 for the entry-level model with rear drum brakes and Rs. 1,03,000 for the disc brake variant.

On the other hand, the RTR 200 4V has become costlier by Rs. 9,450 and is now available at Rs. 1,24,000.
