BMW launches its most expensive SUV in India
German automaker BMW has launched its most expensive SUV, the BMW X7, in India at a whopping price of Rs. 98.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The flagship car is available in two engine options: diesel-based xDrive30d and petrol powered xDrive40i. Notably, the diesel models will be assembled locally, while the petrol-powered variants will be imported through CBU route. Here's our roundup.
Here's a look at the BMW X7
Right of the bat, the BMW X7 sports a premium head-turning look with chrome treatment on its signature kidney grille, roof rails, and window frames. Thanks to BMW's CLAR architecture, the SUV has a grander look with its long wheelbase and high ground clearance. Moreover, it gets an all-LED lighting setup, dual exhausts, split tailgate, and 20-inch alloy wheels as standard.
Inside the BMW X7
Inside, the BMW X7 gets a premium cabin featuring three rows with six or seven-seat combinations. The seats are wrapped with Vernasca leather and are electrically adjustable. The cabin sports a 12.3-inch infotainment system with connectivity features like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Moreover, it gets advanced features like panoramic sunroof with ambient lighting, five-zone climate control, wireless charging support, and a surround-view camera.
Power and performance
The BMW X7 is offered in two engine options: 3.0-liter petrol and 3.0 liter diesel. The petrol engine is capable of producing 340PS of power and 450Nm of peak torque, while the diesel unit churns 265PS of power and 620Nm of peak torque. The petrol unit can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 6.1 seconds, while the diesel engine can do the same in 7 seconds.

On the safety front, the BMW X7 comes equipped with disc brakes on both sides along with ABS, EBD, and traction control. The flagship SUV gets six airbags and a bunch of driver assistant features which include an automatic reversing assistant, lane-keeping assistant, and crossroad warning system to avoid the collision.

In India, both the xDrive30d DPE Signature and xDrive40i variants of the BMW X7 are priced at Rs. 98.90 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price point, the SUV goes up against rivals such as Mercedes-Benz GLS and JLR's Range Rover.
