BMW F 900 GS launched in India at ₹13.7 lakh
BMW Motorrad has launched its new adventure motorcycles, the F 900 GS and F 900 GS Adventure, in India. The standard model is priced at ₹13.75 lakh, while the Adventure variant carries a price tag of ₹14.75 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom). The motorbikes will be imported as completely built-up units, and will be available in two colors each: Passion and GS Trophy for the former, and Blackstorm Metallic and Ride Pro for the latter.
Redesigned for comfort and performance
The F 900 GS and GS Adventure have undergone a design overhaul, focusing on comfort, ergonomics, and riding triangle. The front section along with adjacent side fairings, has been streamlined for a cleaner look. Both are equipped with modern riding aids such as multiple riding modes, traction control for enhanced stability, and switchable ABS that can be adjusted depending on the terrain. A large TFT color instrument cluster that is Bluetooth-enabled, keyless ignition system, and full-LED lighting are also available.
Weight reduction and enhanced features
The new F 900 GS has undergone significant weight reduction, shedding 14kg compared to its predecessor, the F 850 GS. This is due to several updates including a new chassis, lighter plastic fuel tank, revised battery, and Akrapovic rear muffler. The Adventure version comes with an adjustable touring windscreen, aluminum sump guard, auxiliary lights as well as a large 23-liter fuel tank for extended journeys.
Powertrain and rivals
Both models are powered by a reworked, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine with an increased displacement of 895cc. It delivers 105hp/93Nm, paired with a six-speed gearbox. The new bikes replace the F 850 GS and F 850 GS Adventure in India's market. In terms of competition, the F 900 GS will face off against rivals like Triumph Tiger 900 and Ducati DesertX, while the Adventure model will compete with Triumph Tiger 900 GT as well as Honda XL750 Transalp.
