2019 BMW 3 Series pre-bookings start, launching on August 21
German automaker BMW is all set to launch the seventh generation BMW 3 Series in India on August 21. Unveiled at the 2018 Paris Motor Show, the new model is based on BMW's CLAR architecture making it longer, taller, and wider than the outgoing variant. Meanwhile, the bookings for the luxury sedan are underway via BMW India's official website. Here's our roundup.
2019 BMW 3 Series: At a glance
Up front, the all-new BMW 3 Series features a chrome-finished signature kidney grille, sleek headlamps, dual exhausts, and body-colored ORVMs as well as door handles. The sedan houses an all-LED lighting setup for headlamps, DRLs, side indicators, and taillamps. Moreover, thanks to BMW's CLAR architecture, the new model is 55 kgs lighter than the outgoing variant.
Inside the cabin
Inside, the BMW 3 Series features a luxurious cabin with electrically adjustable seats wrapped in leather upholstery and a three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel. It comes with 12.3-inch digital instrument display, 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, brand's personal assistant, and BMW iDrive 7.0 technology. Further, the luxury sedan gets an electric sunroof, keyless entry, and three-zone automatic climate control.
Power and performance
In India, the BMW 3 Series is offered in 2.0-liter petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol unit makes 258bhp of power and 350Nm torque, while the diesel mill churns out 190bhp and 400Nm. Further, both the engines are mated to an eight-speed Steptronic transmission.
BMW 3 Series: On the road
The BMW 3 Series comes equipped with disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels along with ABS, EBD, and traction control for improved road handling. The luxury sedan also offers six airbags, TPMS (Tire pressure management system), adaptive M Suspension system, and rearview cameras as well as rear parking sensors.
Finally, what about pricing?
As for the pocket-pinch, the 2019 BMW 3 Series is expected to arrive at a price of around Rs. 40 lakh. However, the official details will be revealed by the company during the launch event on August 21.
