Imperiale 400 becomes the best-selling Benelli motorcycle in India
What's the story
Benelli's recently launched entry-level cruiser, the Imperiale 400, has gotten an overwhelming response in India.
The Italian automaker has received over 4,000 bookings for the motorcycle, making it the company's most-successful offering in the country to date.
Meanwhile, the reservations for the retro-looking cruiser are currently live via the company's official website as well as all dealerships in India.

Design
What the Imperiale 400 offers
To recall, the Imperiale 400 comes with a naked street design featuring a retro styled look with a bulbous headlamp, rounded chrome-finished mirrors, and spoked wheels.
It gets brand decals on the fuel tank, split-type seat for better riding position, and a blacked-out engine.
Besides that, the motorcycle houses a digital-analog instrument console and has a fuel tank capacity of 12 liters.
Engine
Power and performance
The Benelli Imperiale 400 draws power from a 399cc four-stroke, SOHC engine which comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. This unit churns out 21PS of power at 5,500rpm and 29Nm of peak torque at 4,500rpm.
At present, the aforementioned engine does not meet with the upcoming emission norms. However, the company will introduce a BS6-compliant variant of the bike before April 2020.
Safety
Benelli Imperiale 400: On the road
On the safety front, the Benelli Imperiale 400 comes equipped with a 300mm disc brake on the front, 240mm disc brake on the rear, and dual-channel ABS for improved road handling.
The motorcycle houses 41mm telescopic forks on the front and pre-loaded adjustable dual-shock absorbers on the rear to handle the suspension duties.

As far as the pricing is concerned, the Benelli Imperiale 400 costs Rs. 1.69 lakh in India. At this price point, the motorcycle goes up against rivals such as Royal Enfield Classic 350 and standard Jawa.
