Bajaj Auto working on lighter Dominar 400 with riding aids
Bajaj Auto, during the recent launch of the Pulsar NS400Z, announced plans to upgrade its popular Dominar 400 model specifically for the Indian market. The revamped Dominar 400 is expected to share several feature updates with the NS400Z, with a particular focus on weight reduction. Although exact modifications have not been detailed, it's anticipated that lighter components will be incorporated to reduce its overall weight.
Potential changes to Dominar 400
The current Dominar 400 has a kerb weight of 193kg, making it somewhat top-heavy and challenging to handle. To address this, Bajaj Auto may replace the existing diamond-cut wheels with lighter ones, and substitute the cast-aluminum unit with a box-type swingarm. An underbelly exhaust system might also be introduced as another weight-reduction strategy. Alongside these changes, the upgraded model is likely to adopt features from the Pulsar NS400Z, such as ride-by-wire throttle and switchable traction control system.
Additional features and performance
The upgraded Bajaj Dominar 400 is expected to include rider aids such as multiple ride modes, and Bluetooth connectivity with turn-by-turn navigation. Despite these enhancements, no modifications are anticipated in the powertrain of the new model. It will continue to be fueled by a 373cc, liquid-cooled motor that produces 39.5hp and 35Nm. The suspension and braking hardware are also expected to remain unchanged in the revamped version of this popular motorbike.
More updates suggested
Rakesh Sharma, the Executive Director of Bajaj Auto, suggested further updates for the Dominar range during the Pulsar NS400Z launch. These enhancements could involve a new instrument console, fresh colors, and updated graphics.
