When will Avera Retrosa e-scooter be launched?
Avera Electric, the Andhra Pradesh-based EV start-up, has showcased its fully-electric Retrosa scooter at the recently-concluded Auto Expo. And now, the company has revealed its strategy- it plans to expand its footprint to Southern India by May 2020, and enter North Indian cities by the third quarter of this year. Meanwhile, here's what the Retrosa e-scooter offers.
Avera Retrosa e-scooter: At a glance
Avera Retrosa comes with a minimalistic look featuring a Vespa-inspired iconic retro design with rounded halogen headlamp, a neat front apron with mounted LED turn indicators, and a silver-colored grab rail. It also houses a wide beige-colored seat as well as a fully-digital instrument cluster. Moreover, the e-scooter weighs 88kg (kerb) and has a load carrying capacity of 180kg.
The e-scooter promises a range of 120-140km
The Avera Retrosa packs a 3kW Bosch electric motor that is fueled by a 2.6kWh battery. The scooter has a claimed range of 120-140km (140km when driven at a uniform speed of 45kmph) and a top speed of 90kmph. It can be fueled up in 3-4 hours using household chargers, while a fast-charger can quickly recharge it in 1-2 hours.
Avera Retrosa: On the road
In terms of safety, the Avera Retrosa comes equipped with disc brakes on both the front and rear ends. The suspension duties on the scooter are taken care of by conventional telescopic forks up front and a dual-shock unit on the rear. Furthermore, it also offers two riding modes: Economy and Sport+.
And, what is the pricing?
As far as pocket-pinch is concerned, the Avera Retrosa is priced at Rs. 1.19 lakh. The e-scooter doesn't qualify for the FAME-II subsidy as more than 50% of its components are not localized. Lastly, it takes on the likes of Ather 450X and Bajaj Chetak.
