First EV from 'AUDI' to be showcased at Auto Shanghai
What's the story
German automaker Audi is gearing up to unveil its first-ever car from its China-exclusive AUDI sub-brand at the Auto Shanghai 2025.
The event, which will take place on April 23, will mark a major milestone in Audi's plan to keep up with the fast-changing tastes of consumers and the increasing competition in China's EV space.
Vehicle details
It will be based on AUDI E concept
The first vehicle is likely to be a production version of the AUDI E concept, which was unveiled last year.
The Audi E concept replaces the traditional four-ring logo with bold 'AUDI' lettering on the vehicle.
This model has been developed in collaboration with SAIC, a local Chinese partner, marking a significant shift in Audi's branding strategy for its China-exclusive sub-brand.
Specifications
AUDI model to feature advanced technology and spacious interior
The AUDI model will be based on a dedicated Advanced Digitized Platform, which has been co-developed with SAIC.
This platform enables Audi to reduce its development time by 30%.
The car will have a long wheelbase for a roomier cabin than either the A5 or A6 Avant, while keeping the same external proportions.
Powertrain
High-capacity battery and fast charging
The AUDI model will come with a 100kWh battery pack and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup, providing a maximum range of up to 700km on the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle.
Its 800V architecture allows the vehicle to gain 370km of range in just 10 minutes of charging.
This advanced powertrain highlights Audi's commitment to innovation in its new sub-brand.
