Audi e-tron GT, RS e-tron GT recalled over faulty brakes
Audi is recalling its e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT cars in India, because of a possible brake issue. If you've got one of these models made between January 9, 2020, and June 12, 2024, this might concern you. A SIAM document mentions that the trouble is with the brake hoses on the front axle. They could crack as time goes on, which could lead to the front brakes failing.
37 units affected
The recall is for 37 units of the two high-performance electric sedans. The recall document explains that "significant tension" from steering, could be exerted on the front brake hoses over time and with continuous use. This pressure may cause cracks near their attachment points, leading to a loss of brake fluid and sudden failure of the front brakes.
Rear brakes remain functional
The recall notice also mentions that even if there's a front brake failure, the rear brakes will still work. So, these EVs can still brake, just not as effectively. If brake fluid keeps leaking from the reservoir, you'll see a warning message pop up on the digital instrument cluster saying, "Brakes: stop vehicle and check brake fluid level."
