Audi A8 L India launch set for end of 2019
German automaker Audi is all set to launch the Audi A8 L in India sometime around the end of this year. Unveiled in July 2017, the fourth-gen variant is longer, taller, and packs more features as compared to its outgoing model. Notably, the bookings for the luxury sedan are underway via the company's dealerships across the country. Here's our roundup.
Audi A8 L: At a glance
The Audi A8 L features a premium look sporting a chrome finished hexagonal front grille, sleek headlamps, electrically adjustable blacked-out ORVMs, and an LED bar connecting the taillamps. The luxury sedan gets a premium lighting setup including HD Matrix LED headlamps with DRLs, side indicators, and OLED tail-lamps. Moreover, it has a wheelbase of 3,128mm and a boot space of 480 liters.
Inside the cabin
Inside, the Audi A8 L features a luxurious cabin with electrically adjustable seats wrapped in leather upholstery and a multifunctional power steering wheel. It comes with Audi's Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster display, 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment panel, as well as an 8.6-inch curved display housed in center. For extra luxury and comfort, the cabin gets heated and massage seats, climate control, and foot massager.
Here's a look at the power options
Internationally, the Audi A8 L is offered in three engine options - the 3.0-liter V6 petrol, 3.0-liter V6 diesel, and 4.0-liter V8 petrol. The 3.0-liter petrol and diesel engines churn out 340hp and 286hp of maximum power, respectively. On the other hand, the more powerful 4.0-liter petrol unit produces a massive 460hp of power.
Audi A8 L: On the road
The Audi A8 L comes equipped with disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels along with ABS, EBD, and traction control. The cabin gets eight airbags along with a host of driver-assist features including blind-spot detection, a 360-degree camera for parking assistance, and an exit assist feature which automatically delays the opening of a door when a vehicle is approaching.
Finally, what about pricing?
As for the pocket pinch, the Audi A8 L is expected to arrive in India at a price of around Rs. 1.30-1.40 crore. Once launched, it will lock horns with rivals such as BMW 7 Series, Mercedes S-class, and Jaguar XJ.
