Ather Energy is readying new electric scooters and motorcycles
Ather Energy, India's third-largest electric two-wheeler manufacturer, has announced plans to expand its product range. The company is currently developing two new electric vehicle (EV) platforms, one of which is specifically designed for motorcycles. This strategic move coincides with Ather's filing for a ₹3,100 crore initial public offering (IPO). The funds raised from the IPO will be used to establish a new factory in Maharashtra.
Ather Energy to compete with Revolt, Ola Electric, Ultraviolette
Ather Energy's entry into the e-motorcycle market positions it as a competitor against established brands like Revolt, Ola Electric, and Ultraviolette. The company's current product range consists solely of electric scooters. However, it is now working on a new platform called "Zenith" specifically for electric motorcycles. The Zenith platform will target motorcycles in the 125-300cc segments.
Ather Energy's new platform for versatile, cost-effective e-scooters
In addition to the Zenith platform, Ather Energy is also developing a new platform for its electric scooters. Named "EL," this platform is nearing completion and promises to be a more versatile and cost-effective architecture. The EL platform will incorporate new electronics and chassis while retaining elements of the battery and the AtherStack from the existing Ather 450 platform.
Ather Energy's new platforms to cater to diverse markets
Ather Energy has stated that the new EL platform will enable them to create a wide range of e-scooters, customized for various domestic and international markets. The company plans to produce models based on these new platforms at its upcoming facility in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. However, an official launch date for the new platforms has not been announced yet.
