GST Effect: Ather e-scooters become cheaper by upto Rs. 9,000
Bengaluru-based start-up Ather Energy has reduced the prices of its Ather 450 and Ather 340 e-scooters. The announcement comes days after the Indian government reduced the GST rates on electric vehicles from 12% to 5%. Notably, both the e-scooters have received a price cut of around Rs. 9,000. Here's a look at the new prices
With the latest price reduction, the entry-level Ather 340 is priced at Rs. 1.02 lakh and the Ather 450 costs Rs. 1.13 lakh in Bengaluru, (both prices, on-road). On the other hand, in Chennai, the Ather 340 is now available at Rs. 1.10 lakh and the Ather 450 costs Rs. 1.22 lakh, (both prices, on-road).
Meanwhile, here's recalling both the e-scooters
To recall, both the Ather 450 and Ather 340 scooters feature sharp sporty look with body-colored front mudguards, blacked-out mirrors, and alloy wheels. However, the only visual difference is the presence of green stickers on alloy wheels of Ather 450. Further, both e-scooters offer an IP65-rated 7.0-inch touchscreen panel, GPS, over-the-air updates, on-screen navigation, and an all-LED lighting setup.
Power and performance
The Ather 450 is powered by a 2.4kWh Lithium-ion battery, paired with a Brushless DC motor which is capable of producing 4.48PS power and 20.5Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, the Ather 340 also gets the same Brushless DC motor, but it packs a smaller 1.92kWh Lithium-ion battery which churns out 3.80PS power and 20Nm torque.
Here's a look at the range offered by both scooters
The Ather 450 with its bigger battery promises a range of 75km and 60km in Economy and Power modes, respectively. On the other hand, the Ather 340 has a range of 60km on Economy mode and 50km on the regular mode.
Ather 450 and Ather 340: On the road
On the safety front, both the Ather 450 and Ather 340 get 200mm disc brakes on the front and 190mm disc brakes on the rear wheels along with combined braking system (CBS) for better road handling. For handling the suspension duties, the e-scooters house telescopic forks on the front and a monoshock suspension on the rear.
