Ampere launches Nexus electric scooter at ₹1.10 lakh: Check features
Greaves Electric Mobility's two-wheeler brand, Ampere, has launched its first premium electric scooter named the Ampere Nexus. The scooter is initially priced between ₹1.10 lakh to ₹1.20 lakh (ex-showroom). The Nexus is available in two versions: the base EX model and the top-of-the-line ST model. Customers can select from four vibrant colors: Zanskar Aqua, Lunar White, Indian Red, and Steel Grey.
Nexus scooter features and pre-order details
The Nexus replaces the Primus as Greaves's flagship electric scooter. However, it does not qualify for central subsidies under the Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS). Post the introductory offer, prices will increase by ₹10,000. Pre-orders for the Nexus are currently being accepted with deliveries expected to commence in late May. The scooter retains some design elements from the NXG concept but excludes certain exhibition features like the single-sided swing arm.
Nexus scooter's design and technical specifications
The Nexus scooter features a traditional swing arm, a seat measuring 712mm in length with a height of 765mm, and all-LED lighting. It is equipped with a front disc brake, rear drum brake, and 12-inch alloy wheels fitted with 90-section tires. The ST variant comes with a 7.0-inch touchscreen offering Bluetooth connectivity and navigation, while the EX variant has a 6.2-inch segmented LCD.
Nexus's performance and charging capabilities
The Nexus scooter is powered by a fixed 3kWh LFP battery pack paired with a mid-mounted permanent magnet motor. This setup delivers a nominal output of 3.3kW and a peak output of 4kW. The scooter offers four ride modes: Eco, City, Power, and Limp Home along with a reverse mode. Ampere claims that the Nexus can cover up to 136km on a single charge, with the charging time estimated at three hours and 30 minutes.
