Italian automaker Alfa Romeo has unveiled the Estrema variants of its Giulia sedan and Stelvio SUV in the US. They are positioned between the Veloce and Quadrifoglio trims. Why does this story matter?
The Estrema variants of the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio serve as a more performance-oriented alternative to the Veloce models. They offer better handling and many safety features, and should attract a lot of customers in the US market. If the duo arrives on our shores, it will be as completely built units. The rivalry in the luxury car segment will also be raised.

The Alfa Romeo Giulia Estrema and Stelvio Estrema have a sloping roofline, a lengthy sculpted hood, sleek LED headlights, a triangular grille, and a large air dam. On the sides, they are flanked by blacked-out B-pillars, indicator-mounted ORVMs, and designer alloy wheels. A roof-mounted antenna, wrap-around LED taillights, and twin exhaust tips are available on the rear end of the cars.
They draw power from a 280hp, 2.0-liter engine
The Giulia Estrema and Stelvio Estrema run on a 2.0-liter, turbo-petrol engine that generates 280hp/415Nm and is linked to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and an all-wheel-drive system. An adaptive suspension and a limited-slip differential ensure better performance.
They get heated seats and many safety features
The Alfa Romeo Giulia Estrema and Stelvio Estrema have luxurious cabins with heated seats, a wireless charger, a large center console, auto climate control, and a multifunctional steering wheel. They house a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. The safety of the passengers is ensured by adaptive cruise control, blind-spot assistance, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking.
How much do they cost?
In the US, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Estrema carries a starting price-tag of $55,090 (around Rs. 42 lakh), while the Stelvio Estrema begins at $58,950 (roughly Rs. 45 lakh). Their deliveries should commence there in the third quarter of this year.
