
Car rally for visually impaired takes place in Gujarat

The Blind People's Association hosted the 27th Ahmedabad Round Table Car Rally, a one-of-a-kind initiative to empower the visually impaired community.
Some 93 visually impaired people participated in the rally, showcasing their leadership capabilities.
According to Bhushan Purani, General Secretary of Blind People's Association, participants were provided Braille maps containing directions, times, and landmarks.
They assumed leading roles in directing their passengers through the route with the help of these instructions.

Purani stressed the rally encourages mutual respect for visually impaired participants and their guides.
"This partnership between the leader and their passenger represents a balance of responsibility and trust, emphasizing the blind individual's leadership abilities."
Over the years, it has also served as a platform to foster friendships as well as generate job opportunities for the visually impaired community.

Purani said the tradition reaffirms the city's commitment to inclusivity and respect for the visually impaired.
He said participants look forward to the event which has become a part of their life, giving them pride and purpose.
