Maruti Suzuki Swift earns 4-star safety rating in JNCAP test
The upcoming Maruti Suzuki Swift has made a significant impact in its domestic market, by securing a four-star safety rating in the Japan New Car Assessment Program (JNCAP) tests. The JNCAP evaluates both collision and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) performance. The new Swift excelled in these assessments, particularly impressing with its ADAS performance. Despite falling slightly short in the pedal misapplication category with a 4/5 rating, it achieved perfect scores in six other categories.
Swift's test performance highlights safety features
In the collision tests, the new Swift showcased impressive safety features, achieving perfect scores in several areas. These included the full-wrap frontal collision (passenger's seat), side collision (driver's seat), pedestrian leg protection performance, and neck injury protection rear-end collision performance (passenger and driver's seat). However, it scored 4/5 in other tests like the full-wrap frontal collision (driver's seat) and offset frontal collision (driver's seat).
Swift's overall performance in JNCAP test and future prospects
The new Swift also scored 4/5 in pedestrian head protection performance, and passenger seat belt reminder (PSBR) tests. It fell short only in the offset frontal collision evaluation (rear passenger's seat), where it received a 3/5. With a cumulative score of 177.80 out of 197 points, the new Swift earned an overall four-star rating. These promising results suggest that the Indian-specific car could also perform well, when tested by the Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program (BNVSAP).
How much will the India-bound model cost?
The pricing details of the 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift in India will be disclosed at the time of its launch. However, it should cost more than the outgoing model which starts at ₹5.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
