2019 Audi A6's India launch this week: What to expect?
German automaker Audi is all set to launch the 8th-generation A6 sedan in India this week. The premium sedan, which is already available in select international markets, will grace our shores on October 24. The 2019 edition of the Audi A6 comes with a bunch of design and feature upgrades over the current-generation. However, mechanically, it remains unchanged. Here's our roundup.
2019 Audi A6: At a glance
The design of the 8th-generation Audi A6 is inspired by the more premium A7 and A8 models. It now sports a wider chrome-finished hexagonal grille with sleek headlamps and electronically-adjustable ORVMs. The sportier-yet-premium looks are further accentuated by some chrome garnishing surrounding the windows, alloy wheels, and dual exhausts. For lighting, the sedan gets LED headlamps with DRLs, turn indicators, and LED taillights.
Inside the cabin
Inside, the 2019 Audi A6 sports a 5-seater cabin with ventilated seats, leather upholstery, and some chrome work on the dashboard as well as the steering wheel. The sedan also gets a 12.3-inch Audi's virtual cockpit display and an all-new infotainment panel with connectivity features like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Some other key features are ambient lighting, four-zone climate control, and wireless charging.
Power and performance
In India, the upcoming Audi A6 will be powered by a BS6-compliant 2-liter petrol engine, which is capable of producing 240bhp of power and 370Nm of peak torque. The transmission duties on the sedan will be handled by a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox which sends power to all the wheels.
Here's a look at the safety features
The 2019 Audi A6 comes equipped with disc brakes on all wheels along with ABS, EBD, and traction control for better grip on the road. The car offers six airbags and a 360-degree camera as well as parking sensors. Moreover, it gets 37 driver assist features which come in the form of three different packages including tour assist, park assist, and city assist.
And, what will be the pricing?
Presently, there is no word on the pricing of the 2019 Audi A6 in India. However, it is expected to cost somewhere around Rs. 50 lakh and take on the likes of BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and Jaguar XF in the premium sedan segment.
