2025 Toyota 4Runner debuts with new design and features
Toyota's long-awaited 2025 4Runner SUV has finally made its debut, boasting a fresh design and an unparalleled range of options. This entirely redesigned model is built on the TNGA-F platform, a base shared with other popular Toyota models such as the Tacoma, Land Cruiser, Tundra, and Sequoia. The vehicle maintains its iconic body-on-frame construction featuring a boxed steel-ladder frame, multi-link rear coil suspension, and double wishbone front suspension.
Powertrain evolution: Toyota 4Runner's new engine choices
Toyota has replaced the previous 4.0-liter V6 engine with a more efficient 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, also used in the Tacoma and Land Cruiser models. Customers now have the option to choose between a standard gas-only model or a hybrid "i-Force Max" variant. The standard gas model delivers 278hp of peak power and 430Nm of torque, while the hybrid version offers an impressive 326hp of power and 630Nm of torque, both equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
4Runner has a longer wheelbase
The new 4Runner has expanded slightly in size compared to its predecessor, featuring a longer wheelbase along with increased length and width. Despite these enhancements, it sits a bit lower to the ground with a clearance of just 9.2-inch. Prospective buyers will have the flexibility to choose between two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions, further expanding the customization options for this revamped model.
Inside the 2025 Toyota 4Runner: Modern tech features
The interior of the new 4Runner has been updated with state-of-the-art technology features. These include a touchscreen display equipped with Toyota's latest infotainment system, wireless compatibility for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, USB-C ports, and an optional Qi wireless charging feature. Additionally, Toyota's Smart Key System with push-button start has been incorporated into this model, enhancing convenience for drivers.
New trim offerings: Trailhunter and Platinum 4Runner
Toyota has expanded its trim offerings for the 2025 4Runner by introducing the Trailhunter and Platinum trims. The Trailhunter trim is a rugged, overlanding-focused alternative to the TRD Pro, equipped with Old Man Emu 2.5-inch forged shocks, an ARB roof rack, a low-profile air intake, and 33-inch Toyo Open Country A/T tires. For those seeking luxury, the Platinum trim is a premium option that comes standard with a full-time four-wheel drive system.
