2025 Renault Duster to only offer turbo-petrol engines in India
The highly anticipated next-generation Renault Duster is set to launch in the Indian market in 2025, alongside its Nissan counterpart. The Renault-Nissan alliance in the country has recently teased the introduction of two new SUVs. Furthermore, the seven-seater versions of these vehicles are expected to break cover by the end of 2026. Here's everything we know about their powertrain setup.
A look under the hood
The upcoming Renault Duster and its Nissan version will exclusively feature turbo-petrol engines in the Indian market. A four-wheel-drive model is also being considered for our shores. Upon their launch, both the Renault Duster as well as the upcoming Nissan SUV will offer two turbo-petrol mill choices to the customers.
Two engine options likely
The first engine option is the HR10 1.0-liter turbo-petrol unit, currently used in the Nissan Magnite as well as Renault Kiger. This engine is expected to be optimized for increased power, and will possibly be reserved for lower-spec variants. The second option is the HR13 1.3-liter turbo-petrol motor, capable of generating 153hp and 254Nm of peak torque, previously used in the older Duster and Nissan Kicks.
Gearbox choices and potential hybrid powertrain
Both engines will be mated to a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. There's also the potential introduction of a 1.5-liter, naturally-aspirated petrol engine, but this remains unconfirmed. The K9K diesel mill will not feature in the new-generation Renault Duster and Nissan SUV. A hybrid powertrain setup is also being evaluated for the local market.
