2025 Honda Civic goes official with new features, hybrid powertrain
The 2025 Honda Civic, a popular compact sedan, has been revealed with an updated grille and fascia housing a new hybrid powertrain. This electrified powertrain is available in two fresh trim levels: Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid. The latter stands as the new pinnacle of the Civic line. Specifics about the hybrid system remain undisclosed by Honda, but it's known to feature a dual e-motor setup, paired with a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine.
A look at the performance
The new hybrid powertrain generates a combined 200hp and 314Nm of torque. According to Honda, this makes the hybrid Civic faster than the now discontinued 1.5-liter turbocharged trims, with the exception of the Si model. The hybrid is also tipped to achieve an EPA mileage rating close to 21.2km/liter, a significant improvement over the most efficient 2024 Civic's rating of 12.7km/liter.
Enhanced ride quality and reduced noise
The hybrid Civic benefits from four levels of regenerative braking and specific suspension tuning, enhancing ride quality while minimizing noise. Honda claims that the hybrid variants have the lowest NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) among all Civics. The updated styling of the Civic was previewed earlier this year, featuring narrow vertical openings in the lower fascia and a slightly larger grille.
New exterior colors and interior features
Hybrid trims of the 2025 Civic sport body-colored headlamp trim and a lip spoiler, with all models featuring darker taillights. New exterior shades include Solar Silver Metallic, Blue Lagoon Pearl, Urban Gray Pearl, and Sand Dune Pearl. Inside, hybrid trims offer a gray interior with leather seats and a 12-speaker stereo in the Sport Touring Hybrid variant. This top-tier version also boasts a larger 9.0-inch infotainment screen with Google built-in - a first for the Civic line.
