2025 Audi S3 sports sedan outperforms Volkswagen Golf R
Audi's 2025 S3 sports sedan has undergone a mid-cycle revamp, emerging more potent than its competitor, the Volkswagen Golf R. The enhanced S3 now features a turbocharged 2.0-liter petrol engine that delivers an impressive 328hp of power and 420Nm of torque. This upgrade marks a rise of 22hp and 20.3Nm from its predecessor, surpassing the Golf R's output of 315hp and 400Nm.
S3 incorporates advanced torque distribution technology
The 2025 Audi S3 now incorporates a rear torque splitter borrowed from the RS3, enabling fully variable torque distribution within the rear wheels. This advanced technology, combined with the newly introduced Dynamic Plus mode, allows maximum torque to be directed to the rear axle. Audi notes that in these sportiest settings, the S3 is prone to oversteer, enhancing its thrilling driving experience.
Enhanced engine performance
The revamped S3's 2.0-liter TFSI engine now idles at 1,300rpm, an increase of 200rpm, improving its off-the-line performance. The car has fine-tuned throttle response and adjusted gear ratios for optimal power availability. It now downshifts earlier and upshifts later, to maintain a higher rpm. The updated Audi S3 takes 4.4 seconds to clock 97km/h from a standstill, making it a tenth of a second quicker than its previous model.
It showcases subtle design changes
The design of the new Audi S3 has been subtly modified to align with the recently unveiled 2025 A3 model. Customizable LED DRLs can be chosen from four designs via the infotainment system. The car also introduces four new shades: Ascari Blue, Progressive Red, District Green, and Arkona White. New Falken performance tires for its 19-inch rims, and bigger front brakes with perforated discs and two-piston calipers have also been added.
Interior upgrades in the 2025 Audi S3
Inside the 2025 Audi S3, an ambient lighting package comes as standard in the US. LED contour lighting now adorns the center console as well as cup holders. A fabric panel for the front doors has been cut by lasers 300 times, and is backlit. However, customers will have to pay extra for a flat-bottomed steering wheel. Pricing details for this new model are yet to be announced by Audi.
